JACKSONVILLE, FL (January 27, 2021) – The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) is supporting local healthcare providers, the City of Jacksonville and the Florida Department of Health for Duval County with safe, clean and reliable transportation services to active vaccine sites in our community.
“The JTA formed a Vaccine Distribution Task Force in 2020 to evaluate the needs of and to assist local and state officials and healthcare providers as they begin a rollout of COVID-19 vaccines in our community,” said JTA Chief Executive Officer Nathaniel P. Ford Sr. “These efforts will evolve as needs change, vaccine capacity grows and eligibility expands to additional populations.”
Seniors age 65 and older receive complimentary rides on JTA’s fixed-bus route services with a valid photo ID. This complimentary service is also extended to healthcare professionals who show proof of a vaccine appointment or provide their official employee identification badge. As eligibility and capacity expands beyond those populations, the JTA is committed to extending complimentary rides to and from vaccine sites with proper appointment verification.
All JTA customers and employees are required to wear face coverings on board and inside JTA facilities. The JTA cannot make or coordinate appointments for COVID-19 vaccines. To schedule an appointment for the COVID-19 vaccine at the Regency Mall, individuals can call (866) 200-3762.
As the JTA’s response evolves, the most up-to-date information will be provided through our website at health.jtafla.com. In addition, our Customer Service Center is set up to answer any questions related to transportation to the vaccination sites, (904) 630-3100.
City of Jacksonville Vaccine Sites
The JTA is working closely with the City of Jacksonville as it continues to evaluate COVID-19 vaccination sites and the needs of senior populations. Further details will be updated through the website and more information can be found by calling (904) 630-CITY (2489).
Florida SERT Regency Square Mall Vaccine Site
When the Florida State Emergency Response Team’s (SERT) primary vaccine site was relocated to the Regency Square Mall, the JTA saw an opportunity to provide an additional stop there, making it easier for those with appointments to access the site. The routes serving the Regency Square Mall now make an additional stop in front of testing site during vaccination hours.
The Regency Square Mall Hub is currently served by the First Coast Flyer Red Line, and Route 10 - Atlantic, Route 18 - Atlantic/Monument, Route 19 - Arlington, Route 23 - Townsend/Southside, and Route 202 - Mayport Express. Passengers with appointments can also catch these routes from the Jacksonville Regional Transportation Center at LaVilla (JRTC). The Red Line provides the most direct access from Jacksonville’s beaches and connects to 27 other bus routes at the JRTC.
The JTA provides door-to-door service to the Regency Square Mall site from the Arlington neighborhood through our existing Arlington ReadiRide Zone. We have also temporarily expanded the Arlington ReadiRide Zone to provide greater accessibility between Regency and Spring Park.
To verify eligibility through ReadiRide, customers can call our ReadiRide reservationists 24 hours in advance of an appointment at (904) 679-4555. Please provide your complete address, appointment date and time, and any special needs accommodations you may need.
Future expansions of ReadiRide will be considered as vaccination capacity expands to other sites.
