(Jacksonville, FL – December 11, 2025) Today, the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) Board of Directors met and unanimously approved a 6-month fare modification pilot program beginning on February 1, 2026, that will significantly reduce fares, namely, Fixed Route Bus from $1.75 to $1.00, a 43% reduction, and Connexion Paratransit from $2.00 to $1.00, a 50% reduction.

“This fare decrease pilot reflects our commitment to putting our community first,” said Nat Ford, CEO of the Jacksonville Transportation Authority. “By lowering fares, we’re removing barriers to mobility and making it easier for people across Jacksonville to access jobs, education, healthcare, and opportunity,” Ford said.

Addressing the JTA leadership, Board Chair Aundra Wallace stated “Kudos to this team for coming forward with this suggestion. You didn’t propose a 25-cent cut. You didn’t propose a 50-cent cut. You proposed a 75-cent cut. Affordability is a conversation at every dinner table in this entire region. It’s that type of innovation that goes along with other innovations that’s already taking place as to why the JTA is an efficiently run organization. This is what leadership looks like,” Wallace said.

As part of the pilot program, the JTA Board of Directors also approved making the Neighborhood Autonomous Vehicle Innovation (NAVI) service complimentary effective December 15, 2025.

During the Board meeting, it was announced that the JTA will hold a series of public input meetings to discuss the state of the JTA’s services including new fleet vehicles, route enhancements, updates on current services, and to gather community input. The JTA public input meetings will be held on January 6th, January 7th, January 8th, January 13th, January 14th, and January 15th. Full meeting details will be announced soon.
