(Jacksonville, FL – August 8, 2025) With the new school year beginning, the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) wants to remind the community of their programs that offer free fares for middle and high school, college and university, and trade or vocational students in Duval County through various programs.

“Helping students get to school each day allows the JTA to support families, neighborhoods and the future of Jacksonville,” said JTA CEO Nat Ford. “We are proud to play a role in learning, achievement and opportunity for Duval County students.”

My Ride 2 School covers fare for middle and high school students with rides on any of the 34 JTA fixed-route bus or First Coast Flyer routes, seven days a week. Students must provide a valid school I.D. before boarding. Click here to review routes.

College students can also ride fare free through the JTA College Student Annual Pass Program. For students enrolled in a local accredited college or university, fixed-route bus and First Coast Flyer fare is free year-round. Students can register using their school email.

Similarly, the JTA recently introduced My Ride to Train, a one-year pilot program to provide complimentary fixed-route passes to students enrolled in registered technical, trade, vocational or apprenticeship programs in Duval County. Supporting access to local education and training opportunities, this new program is now available through June 30, 2026.

Providing fare free service for students is one of the many ways the JTA is working to create a stronger, better-connected Northeast Florida. For more information, visit jtafla.com/rider-guide/fares-passes.
