The Fare Modification Pilot Program is an opportunity for the JTA to give back to the community, to examine the effect of fare reduction on ridership, collect and examine ridership data and trends, give some cost savings back to our customers, and gather feedback from the community. We believe public engagement about our services is important and it enables us to make informed decisions in the future. Based on transit research and our own internal analysis, lowering fares typically encourages more people to ride. We expect to see returning riders who may have left during or after the pandemic, as well as new customers who find the reduced fares more affordable.
Six months. The pilot program begins February 1 and ends July 31.
JTA will be using the ridership data and feedback from our customers during the pilot program to determine future rates, routes and services.
No. The JTA will continue to provide Connexion paratransit services as required by federal law.

In 2019, the JTA launched Connexion Plus, a premium, on-demand, private (NON-SHARED), same-day, door-to-door service, much like an Uber/Lyft ride for eligible ADA or TD customers.
Connexion service will be providing same day trips based on availability.
There will be NO change to Connexion Plus service. There will be a change in the fare structure stated below.
As part of the pilot, Connexion and Connexion Plus fares will be:

Over the last 5 years, the JTA has made significant improvements to our Connexion service, increasing reliability and on-time performance, expanding and upgrading the Connexion fleet with brand new vehicles, and improving the rider experience across the 762 square miles we serve. Connexion has a 93 percent destination on-time performance over the last 3 years. Connexion Plus customers can rely on our Connexion service.
