Local Students Ride For Free Through Jacksonville Transportation Authority’s “My Ride 2 School” Program!

Jacksonville, FL – August 8, 2024 With Duval County Public Schools students returning to class on Monday, August 12, Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) reminds local families they have an additional option for school transportation. Middle school and high school students are eligible to ride JTA buses and the First Coast Flyer every day at no cost through JTA’s My Ride 2 School program.

"The My Ride 2 School program is an important partnership with Duval County Public Schools as our community responds to the challenges presented by a national bus driver shortage," said JTA CEO Nathaniel Ford, Sr. "If we can get kids to school on JTA buses that are already running, we can free up resources at the school district level to meet other needs."

Students can choose from 34 JTA bus routes, including First Coast Flyer routes, that have stops at or near local schools. Parents and students should check JTA bus schedules through the MyJTA app or online to determine which route(s) serve their area. Students must provide a valid school I.D. before boarding.

Because this program is available seven days a week, it also benefits students who are engaged in afterschool or extracurricular activities when fewer school buses are running outside of normal school hours.
